Principles and Values

We believe that identity is complex and fluid across time and that it is shaped by the wide range of experiences and social environments in which people live, grow, and interact with one another. Our experiences with power, privilege, and oppression influence how we think of our lives and how we view ourselves; these experiences can be encouraging or deflating, life-giving or life-sucking, healing or traumatic. It is no secret that in very recent years and months, life has been especially fraught for women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people with (dis)abilities, and people of color. Simply stated, at Midwest Psychology Group our goal as licensed therapists is to work with our clients to decrease their suffering and increase their flourishing – across all aspects of their lives. We share the core values of clinical excellence, ethics and social justice, accountability and integrity, communication and compassion, and growth and innovation.
