A starting place for adults questioning ADHD.
Many adults begin questioning ADHD after years of struggling privately with focus, follow-through, organization, time management, or mental overload. Often these challenges were previously attributed to anxiety, stress, personality, or not trying hard enough, especially in adults who appeared outwardly capable or successful.
This page is intended for adults who are specifically curious about ADHD.
ADHD screeners are not diagnostic tools. They do not determine whether you have ADHD. Instead, they help identify whether current patterns of attention, executive functioning, and self-regulation resemble those commonly reported by adults who later pursue a formal ADHD evaluation. Many adults experience screeners as a moment of recognition, even when results feel incomplete.
The ASRS v1.1 is a validated ADHD screener designed specifically for adults. It focuses on patterns related to inattention, working memory, organization, restlessness, impulsivity, and difficulty sustaining effort over time. Many adults recognize that these traits have been present since childhood, even if they were never named as ADHD.
Part A of the ASRS is most commonly used for screening. Meeting the screener threshold suggests that ADHD may be worth exploring further in a comprehensive adult evaluation, particularly if these traits were also present earlier in life and continue to interfere with daily functioning. As with all screeners, results must be interpreted in context, especially for adults who have developed strong coping or compensation strategies.
If difficulties with focus, planning, or mental fatigue feel persistent and familiar, you are welcome to complete the ASRS below as a tool for personal reflection.
